Camel Audio Alchemy Sounds So Good You'll Grow Humps
Wikipedia defines alchemy as "both an early form of the investigation of nature and an early philosophical and spiritual discipline, both combining elements of chemistry, metallurgy, physics, medicine, astrology, semiotics, mysticism, spiritualism and art all as parts of one greater force," however Camel Audio describes Alchemy as "the ultimate sample manipulation synthesizer." Which definition is correct? If you answered both, you win! Everything you read on the internet is true!
Camel Audio Alchemy boasts powerful synth features and extreme ease of use because of its performance controls and remix pads. Start out with a library of killer presets and tweak away. These presets come from a collection of the most renowned sound designers on the planet, so tweaking probably doesn't need to take you too far.
Alchemy also contains additive, spectral and granular synthesis and resynthesis with a powerful virtual analog engine under the hood. Morph or crossfade between filters or import your own samples using SFZ, WAV or AIFF files. Do whatever the heck you want, cause this is America. USA! USA!
Alchemy also includes a range of analog modeled filters and a flexible effects rack containing effects from CamelPhat, CamelSpace and hot, new effects -- notably a high quality reverb. The modulation system is highly usable and Alchemy's arpeggiator has got some muscle to it as well.
Camel Audio includes over 2 GB of samples from their in-house designers (Tim Conrardy and Biomechanoid -- if that is your real name, Mr. Conrardy) as well as designers Ian Boddy, Robert Rich, Scott Solida and an assist from Nucleus SoundLab. This adds up to 300 excellent presets. Four years in the making, Camel Audio says it should be out sometime in Fall 2008.
