Camel Audio Alchemy 1.10: Getting One Step Closer To Becoming The Philosopher's Stone Of Sound

July 16, 2009
Camel Audio Alchemy 1.10

Since Camel Audio's release of Alchemy, synthesists from around the globe have been conjuring up their own sounds in the effort to discover that mysterious fifth element. In as much as these people would want to do so, they still encounter some stumbling blocks as their humps run dry while performing Alchemy. Eventually, they begin to complain that they can't make gold out of it. In an effort to help these alchemists turn waveforms into gold, Camel Audio Alchemy has been updated to version 1.10.

Cooking up new stuff requires new and cleaner reagents. One of the new features in Alchemy includes an almost 150 purer and less experimental sounds to give these sound alchemists more basic material to play around with. Another addition would be 35 new dance sounds added to the Electronic bank and 30 new soundscapes and smooth pads make their way to the Atmospheric bank.

Numerous other enhancements have been added to assist even the most demanding alchemist. These are as follows:

  • Right click context sensitive help
  • Ability to analyze files up to 5 mins in length
  • New additive pitch setting
  • Easier to use import file dialog including scroll wheel support
  • File browser recognizes aliases (OSX) and shortcuts (Win)
  • Reduced GUI opening time
  • Improved auto assign and remix pad variations
  • Choose whether Alchemy should start in simple or advanced mode
  • Option to invert performance knobs on right click menu
  • Effects rack scrollbar shrinks/expands depending on number of effects loaded
  • Mod depth snaps to semitone values when applied to tune.
  • Additive editor shows active partials.
  • Snap additive partials to semitone/dB.
  • Copy/paste commands in additive file menu update depending on view.
  • New snapshot volume control.
  • Extra 6dB of volume.
  • User details displayed in about box and at startup.
  • Sampler now supports forward/back loop mode.
  • Right click option to assign single knob.
  • Various bug fixes, details of which are at http://www.camelaudio.com/news.php?nID=134

Camel Audio Alchemy costs $249.00 USD and is available for both Windows and Mac users. You may also opt to try it out first by downloading a demo version that's also found in Camel Audio's website.
