November 18, 2009
British company Cartec Audio has introduced its version of the classic Pultec EQ, calling it the EQP-1A.

Hailing from the UK, the British company Cartec Audio (£1955 MSRP) has introduced its version of the classic Pultec EQ, calling it the EQP-1A.

The EQP-1A features an all valve gain stage and valve power rectification; JJ ECC83s, ECC82, and United Electronic CV4005 rectifier valves; sealed switches and control pots (military-grade Grayhill and PEC models); custom-made knobs by Davies Molding, the manufacturer of the original Pultec knobs; and a 150 mm deep aluminium chassis / engraved aluminium faceplate.

The clone unit also offers transformer-balanced input and output (authentic handwound British Sowter models), and point-to-point wiring. Each EQP-1A is hand-assembled in England.
