Carvin LSx Loudspeakers: Homemade Sound -- It's In There!
The righteously patriotic dudes over at Carvin have had it up to here with the great overseas manufacturing exodus. They've drawn a line in the sand. . . a line of new speakers that is! (The new line does not include a line array)
The "prosumer" LSx series loudspeakers (LoudSpeakers, eXcellent!) introduce seventeen (17!) new models to the market, including ten passive and seven powered models. The range extends from the LSx1002 -- a 2-Way Main PA speaker with 10" woofer and 1" mylar driver -- to the ridiculously huge LSx1802 subwoofer -- dual 18-inch woofers with 4-inch voice coils, internal crossover with bypass, size of a refrigerator. The series even includes two 15" wedge monitors, the LSx1502M (passive) and LSx1502MA (powered).
The LSx series loudspeakers are housed in 18mm multi-ply hardwood and finished with a multi-layered, catalyzed polyurethane Duratex™ finish, which we assume is something akin to the DuPont stainless carpet, but with more "technologies" added. The enclosures also feature 18-gauge steel grills, recessed steel handles, internal, low loss crossovers and Speakon and 1/4" jacks for connection.
Carvin's LSx series loudspeakers are available now for order direct from Carvin, and retail between $199 and $799 US.

Carvin speakers and gear
Aloha:
I am from the Big Island of Hawaii and have used Carvin for many years. I had a recording studio in Kansas and used the Tascam 16 track with Allen & Heath Mixer and was happy enough. My friends had won a battle iof the bands in K.C. and used all Carvin stuff. They used bigger stuff back in the 80's.
At studio Hawaii I was Sound/video Tech and I install as house mixer ,a SL-24 Carvin and a Mackie 24 track digital recorder with all EAW speakers excert four Carvin monitors and two pole mounted Carvin mains on stage. The EAW's were flying on trusses. The Carvins were used in a Beatle copy band and they brought down the house.
Just bought two LSx1502A's and a LSx1801A with a Concert C-3244 and 24 channel Carvin snake. I plan to add another PD-150 and a new HDTV camera for great event services. My computer choices are G5 dual CPU Loaded and a MacBook Pro 2.0 with over 30K MIDI songs in my collection. Carvin is GREAT!!
One of my clients recorded a song with me and sings Falsetto at high end hotel eatery and CEO of Carvin loves his talent and personality so much he gave him a Cavin Acoustic made of Hawaiian KOA wood. I plan to give him a copy of original tune on CD as a gift.
