This new application can be utilized in various compatible hosts as a plugin, making it useful as an editing tool within the context of other tracks recorded in the host. Melodyne Essential 2 offers the same editing functions as one will find in Melodyne Assistant, those being editing of notes in monophonic or rhythmic audio material, correction of intonation, melody restructuring, and others. It is part of Digidesign's Ignition Pack software bundle and cannot be purchased separately. It works as a RTAS plugin in ProTools. It also comes in with Melodyne macros for pitch and time correction. On the other hand, updates from Melodyne Essential 1 are available for 59.00 USD for products registered prior to June 1, 2009. For products registered subsequent to June 1, 2009, updates will be free.
