New from Cerwin Vega, the CVi Passive Portable PA speaker series offers portable PA solutions that are said to deliver accurate and clear performance coupled with outstanding low-frequency response. The series includes two subwoofers (the CVi-118S and CVi-218S), two full-range speakers (CVi-152 and CVi-252), and a two-way stage monitor (CVi-122M). Designed to be portable and durable, each unit is housed in a double-braced wood cabinet with an 18-gauge steel grill.

The CVi Passive Portable PA speaker series' two subwoofers (CVi-118S and CVi-218S) have peak power capacities of 1,200W and 2,400W, respectively, and they deliver low-frequency impact with tighter bass definition and less distortion. The CVi-218s features a stacked driver contra-sub, an Inverse Synergy sub configuration that allows the two drivers to work together in the same enclosure volume, in turn producing bass response that exceeds the output of the collective drivers. According to Cerwin Vega, the result is cleaner, smoother low-frequency reinforcement at higher SPL.

The new series also offers two full-range speakers (CVi-152 and CVi-252) -- a 15-inch and a dual 15-inch, with peak power capacities of 1,000W and 2,000W, respectively. The fifth and final speaker of the line, the CVi-122M, is a 2-way stage monitor with a peak power capacity of 1,000W.

Each unit in the CVi series features high-performance 34 mm Mylar compression drivers and hemi-conical horns for smooth and accurate high-frequency response, both on and off axis. Cerwin Vega notes that the advanced crossovers used in the design reproduce accurate cross-band summation, resulting in a far more natural sound field.

With a high current capacity and dual Speakon and 1/4-inch input / output options, the CVi series offers many connectivity paths including the ability to connect multiple units in serial. You can mix and match from the five different models of this speaker series to get the PA setup that is right for you.
