V-Blog: Welcome To The Chicago Guitar Show 2007

June 05, 2007
Gearwire's Rob introduces the Chicago Guitar Show 2007.
Gearwire's Rob Warmowski does a video blog of what awaited us at the Chicago Guitar Show 2007. There are thousands of guitars here ranging from inexpensive Epiphones to $100, 000 Fender Stratocasters. During the show, the Gearwire crew witnessed luthiers practicing their craft, held priceless custom Strats, were duped by the Fender Relics Telecaster series, and did some serious thrashing on big-screen Guitar Hero.

All in all, it was a fulfilling show with plenty of collecting tips and unusual treasures of the custom guitar world. Geawrwire has a ton of material to bring you from the show, the floodgates open starting with this video blog!

[ROB WARMOWSKI PLAYING GUITAR]

ROB WARMOWSKI: Hey everybody. Welcome to the Chicago Guitar Show. I'm Rob Warmowski for Gearwire, and I'm standing next to a beautiful parade of 1963 Telecasters. These are all beautiful Telecaster but they're all particularly from 1963. I'm a Tele player myself so I'm really excited to check all these out.

We're actually here in the Du Page County Conference Center, and the Chicago Guitar Show takes place every year here, and this is a little different from a kind of event that Gearwire covers. You've seen us at NAMM and you've seen us at Musikmesse and you've seen us at various other large shows showcasing new technology in music. The Chicago Guitar Show is a custom guitar show, so basically what we're seeing here is a lot relics, a lot of older pieces, and instead of manufacturers of equipment coming out to this show, we've got a lot of retailers and a lot of refurbishers and specialty shops so we're going to walk around and take a look and see who came to this show.

As I just looked around here, I see a representation of companies and people from all over the United States: Waco, Colorado, Missouri -- I'm seeing all kinds of high-end guitar refurbishers come into this show, so we're going to see some real treasures here at the Chicago Guitar Show. Just take a look at these '63 Teles. Just this alone I could spend all day checking out, and it said there's signs everywhere that say don't touch. You know I'm going to ignore those eventually.

They've got everything at this show: bodies, parts, every kind of part you can imagine, strings, saddles, pickguards, knobs, nuts. You name it, they've got it here, and if it can fall off a guitar, you can find it here at the Chicago Guitar Show. I'm Rob Warmowski for Gearwire. Keep it here on Gearwire.Com.

I need awesome gear... I'd like a free gear catalog!
My opinion is awesome. I'd like to take a gear survey
