Dave's Guitars Shows Off Reproduction Turqoise Fender Stratocasters: Part One
[ROB WARMOWSKI PLAYING GUITAR]
ROB WARMOWSKI: All right everybody. Welcome back to the Chicago Guitar Show. I'm Rob Warmowski for Gearwire.Com, and I've got Tim Mullally here from Dave's Guitar Shop across Wisconsin. Welcome, Tim.
TIM MULLALLY: Nice meeting you, Rob.
ROB WARMOWSKI: Just before we get started, I want to make sure everybody knows that Dave's Guitar is on the web at davesguitar.com. Is that right.
TIM MULLALLY: That's correct. We're there.
ROB WARMOWSKI: So are we. And we're going to add an interesting story here today about these two Stratocasters, these beautiful, I don't know, is it seafoam green, aqua? What are those colors?
TIM MULLALLY: That color is Taos Turquoise.
ROB WARMOWSKI: Taos Turquiose. Beautiful guitars. One is an original, one is not. Let's talk about this.
TIM MULLALLY: Yeah. The one in the center, this one right here, is a 1957 Taos Turquoise Fender Stratocaster. We've heard one of six, now we've heard one of four in experimental Du Pont colors that was coming out of Fender at that time when they were doing custom color stuff.
ROB WARMOWSKI: And what year was this from?
TIM MULLALLY: This is in 1957. Yep, 1957, Taos Turquoise, Du Pont color, they were doing those colors to match the stuff that was coming out of Detroit on the autos at that time.
ROB WARMOWSKI: Interesting. When did the industry stop doing that.
TIM MULLALLY: Oh. Well they still do custom color stuff every once in a while but back then it was pretty rare, very rare. I don't know when they officially quit doing that kind of thing but....

not seafoam green
Yes indeed
