Clavia Nord Electro 3: Finally, Some Closure To The Electro Narrative

November 14, 2008
Clavia Nord Electro 3

Ever since the original Nord Electro was released, the world has watched with baited breath the adventures of this plucky, every-keyboard as it introduced itself to new friends, worked its way up at famous recording studios, and eventually toured the world with some of the biggest names in live music. We laughed, cried, and felt a little more human when Nord Electro 2 came out and we were introduced to new sounds and new effects. Now the story comes full-circle, as the world witnesses the release of Clavia Nord Electro 3.

Nord Electro 3 brings the Electro story full-circle with the introduction of new Nord Wave Library compatibility. Now Electro fans have access to the ever-expanding collection of multi-samples designed for the Nord Wave Synthesizer. New Wave Library samples are announced regularly on the Nord website.

New on-board sounds include a revamped piano library, incorporating the sophisticated piano samples from the Nord Stage synth. The Nord C1 Combo Organ also lends its sound engine to the Electro 3, meaning a full-palette of upgraded tonewheel organ sounds. It's like the whole gang from the Nord franchise is getting together for this blockbuster release. In order to keep up with the advanced emulations and Wave Library downloads, the Electro 3 features eight-times the memory capacity of its predecessor.

Cameo upgrade appearances are scheduled from:

  • A brand new effect section includeing five distinct reverbs, tremolo, panning, wah-wah, phaser, flanger and chorus effects.
  • A new selection of three amplifier simulations, a three-band EQ with sweepable mid-range and a compressor for the end of the signal chain.
  • An enhanced rotary speaker emulator, also ported from the Nord C1; the new effect also recreates the foot-control stop-start functions of the early one-speed rotary speakers.
  • A "monitor input" jack lets you play along with music from any portable playback source.
  • A new memory management program -- Electro Manager -- will ship with the piano.
  • A slimmer profile and reduced weight mean added portability, and increased exposure in Vogue, and Cosmo.
