Cort Guitars Gasoline 1 And Cort Guitars Motor Oil 1 Electric Guitars Added To Fuel Series

June 30, 2011
Cort Guitars announced two electric guitars -- the Gasoline 1 and the Motor Oil 1 -- produced in collaboration with McSwain.

Fuel up and get gassy (in the good way!) while playing your favorite guitar lick, with the two new electric guitar models from Cort Guitars: the Gasoline 1 and the Motor Oil 1.

Just announced for the new Fuel Series of guitars, the Gasoline 1 and the Motor Oil 1 are the end product of Cort Guitars' collaboration with the Los Angeles-based builder, Stephen McSwain, of McSwain Guitars. Both new guitars are now available in retailers worldwide.

Based on vintage gasoline and oil cans, each guitar has a unique design featuring aged hardware, custom graphics, and a distressed black satin finish. The Gasoline 1 guitar has a three piece, set-in neck, while the Motor Oil 1 model features a bolt-on neck.

Both guitars sport a basswood body, Canadian hard rock maple neck, 24.75" scale, a Rosewood fingerboard, Classic Rocker-II Pickups, a T.O.M. Bridge with string-thru body, and a Graphtech Nubone nut. What sets the two models apart are their necks and graphics.

Specifications for both models include the following:

  • Basswood body
  • Canadian hard rock maple neck
  • 24.75" scale
  • Rosewood fingerboard
  • Classic Rocker-II Pickups (H / H)
  • T.O.M. Bridge with string-thru body
  • Graphtech Nubone nut

Cort Guitars writes this about McSwain: "McSwain has been quietly building a reputation for himself in the guitar community, as a builder of what he calls 'functional art.' What started many years ago with a motor carving tool, some Exacto knives and some artistic, and musical aptitude has flourished into a business of building exquisite guitars. Although prices for a McSwain instrument start at $5,000, his craftsmanship attracts the attention of customers such as Steve Vai, Slash, Jerry Cantrell, Korn, Tommy Lee, and Vernon Reid."

The company also notes that Cort Guitar's advanced manufacturing capability allows them to produce the hand-crafted designs of McSwain at more affordable prices all the while, maintaining the authenticity and detail of the originals.

The new Gasoline 1 guitar is priced at $599 (MSRP), while the Motor Oil 1 is priced at $539. For more information, please visit cortguitars.com.
