Crate Taxi and Limo Amp Series - Gear Insider
CRATE REPRESENTATIVE: Another innovative series of Crate amps that we have to offer is in the area of portable battery powered amps of which we have three models: the Taxi 15, the Taxi 30, and the Limo (the TX50DBE). These amps are completely portable, they have a battery that you recharge overnight with an adapter like this. They also come with a car adapter that plugs into your cigarette lighter. They're made out of molded plastic for weight reduction. This one actually only weighs 22 pounds. The batter works for up to eight hours when it's fully charged. They also have lots of features and can be considered small portable PA systems.
They have multichannel. This particular model has a channel for a microphone with an effects send so you can add reverb to your singing or speaking. It also has a low-Z and a hi-Z jack so it can accommodate any kind of a microphone. The instrument channel has a gain section and a clean section. It has built-in effects and a separate send so you can control the amount of effect that goes to that channel.

That would be your clean sound. We can add some delay.

The amp also has a rock and roll sound with an overdrive section.

In addition to the two channels, it also has CD inputs so you can play music through this also. The application for this piece could be anything from a guy playing in the subway in New York city to a church that needs a small PA to take outside for the choir, or in a meeting room, or to go anywhere that sound application is required.

How much does the crate limo tx50dbe vs. tx50db weight?
I've been looking online and some sites say it's 22lbs while over say 32lbs. I thought I had it figured out for a minute that the old tx50db is the 32 pounder while the tx50dbe is the new lighter one weighing only 22lbs. Then I did some more looking around and found that some sites say the dbe is 32lbs too. So what's the difference between the two? Also, the only thing I can see missing from this amp holding it back from shear perfection is a direct out so I can hear myself at open mics and gigs that have a crummy PA with no monitors. I wish it had that instead of all that dsp garbage i'd never use. Also, could someone please send me a clear picture of the control pannel on this thing, I can't find one anywhere. Stay tuned.
