Crosstalk 44: Black Metal And Outsourcing Are Killing America!

May 20, 2008
Crosstalk 44

The results are in, and we have the winner of the first ever Crosstalk Black-Metal Riff-Off. We'd like to thank everyone who submitted a riff, voted and/or left us feedback. Oh, and the haters. We ESPECIALLY want to thank the haters.

After we finally excise the black metal from our systems, the topic up for debate is production outsourcing. Britton's got a bone to pick with a certain Bass Amplification Manufacturer, and he, Owen and Henry weigh in on the myths, misconceptions and misdirections associated with the outsourcing business model.

Bill couldn't be with Crosstalk this episode due to illness, but we're sure he was shaking an angry fist in solidarity.

Presenter: Owen O'Malley
Location: Gearwire Studio

Oh man. Cross talk is a f-n

Oh man. Cross talk is a f-n JOKE! No wonder everyone flames you bitches. Dumbest contest ever! For everyone disenfranchised with this goofy contest please check my much more on point blog

I actually post useful tips and not hot garbage like black metal riff contests. Sorry Bill, you can always come work for me. Leave Henry and Owen to rot in pretentious hipster hell!

I don't think gear wire is gonna be around much longer. No one here seems to have a clue.

typical Bill!!! get a clue. Your music is the worst by the way! Mr. Automatic is some cheesy garbage. Maybe you should visit that dudes blog and learn something. You're ego is waaaaaaaaaay too big for this site.

that's cool.

By: bholland

Maybe you missed the fact that I happen to love cheesy garbage, electro, drum and bass, techno, house, trip-hop, and IDM equally. Lately, I've been spinning out Fake Blood, Bloody Beetroots, Kanji Kinetic, and Curses! while getting a lot of good feedback from producers of the B-more sound. I don't pretend to be a Liam Howlett or Thomas Fehlmann by any means, so since you seem to have great musical knowledge regarding electronic music, send us some tracks or a mix. They better make me want to dance, though.

I really don't like

By: Anonymous Coward

I really don't like Crosstalk either. Bill asked us to post our better blog in a previous post. I think that crosstalk used to be very good and informative. Now Henry and Owen have really messed things up and the focus is way too much on guitars and hipster jokes. I am not too serious, but I also try not to be pretentious Check out my blog to see how it's done:

http://musicthing.blogspot.com/

And don't delete my link please. I'm not trying to take anything away from gearwire. I think we should be a community and help each other. I feel that I'm entitled to my opinion and I'm really just wanting to help! Thanks for not deleting Josh!

wow nice blog! I agree that

By: Frank rosaly

wow nice blog! I agree that gearwire has gone down hill. I got interviewed with them back in the day. I would not do it now if they paid me! Mostly because Henry and Owen are just really over the top. I hate how they think that sounding bad is funny! Why are you guys on a gear show? You know nothing other than bad guitar jokes. Sorry!!!

I didn't see this link

By: bholland

I actually read your blog and think it's really good. Understand that we acknowledge all types of gear on our site, and are trying to hit up major manufacturers before hitting on things that are more off the beaten path-like a lot of the bends, mods, and such that I see on your site. Have you listened to the newest crosstalk on outsourcing, by the way?

I think the main problem is that people want us to be one thing or another, and the truth is that each of us has strengths. For example, next crosstalk is within my realm because we'll be dealing with freeware, soft synths, and open source software.

Crosstalk, honestly is like Car Talk with Gear. You ever listen to how much those guys crack bad jokes? My god.
