Crosstalk 41: Musikmesse Review
April 02, 2008
That's right. It's Crosstalk time, again, and the guys are heavily debating what the best picks at Musikmesse were this time around. Everybody has their pick, complete with Britton's chance to finally rant about Custom Analog Synthesis.
Also in this episode, the quest for Black Metal Guitar riffs continues, along with the never-ending onslaught of amp modeling critique. The team reviews the Korg R3, and Owen ends up having to restrain Bill from nearly strangling Britton.

You guys are fuckin' NFIs
You guys are fuckin' NFIs when it comes to FL
Sheesh. I've never heard anything so goddam retarded
Yes... FL 1.0 was shit, but it's up to 8 now, dickheads
I use FL for all styles of production and it kills ALL OTHERS
Come join us in the 21st century
hmm...
I think I did a decent job of defending it. I mean, it handles vsts better than a lot of other DAWs...cubase, anyone? Plus, albums that go platinum don't lie.* (see below for my footnote to this later on) I think Kylie Minogue uses Fruityloops, and with the kind of cash she's made, who really cares whether or not it's pro tools or fruityloops. Although, I'm guessing it was probably all mixed in Pro Tools. A few of my friends produce using FL 8, with great results. Liz over at Create Digital recently did a workshop on FL Studio, and it's actually where I finally got to see how much the software has developed over time. I worked on a track recently using FL 7, however, and it drove me a little bit nuts. It's a powerful tool, but definitely not for everyone.
Plus, if we're talking 21st century, shouldn't you be a big MAX/MSP fan instead?
Nah FL is still Not good
Sorry man but this show is an editorial and that means i have my opinion about things, some you may not like and some you may. But trying to call us names for being offended doesn't offer any insight to why you think we are wrong. Really man if you think we are retarded than back it up. i have been doing this show for over a year and i get the same people trying to belittle my opinion without substance. So if you got something to really say than bring it to the table so we can discuss it. I have seen fl8 and its not that great, sonar and ableton for starters have more options as far as processing and routing capabilities.
which is why...
FL 8 drives me personally insane. I know lots of people who use it with great results, but I will take ableton over it any day hands down.
"albums that go platinum
"albums that go platinum don't lie" Cmon bill even the president of the US lies. What kind of drugs are you on man!?
ha ha...well...
what I meant was that if you can release an album with fruity loops, and it goes platinum, then it pretty much proves that you CAN use fl studio to do pro work and make a living off that. Personally, I'm not a big fan of kylie minogue, but it really surprised me to find out that they used FL studio on her last album. You would be surprised to see some of the things producers use on the pro level. There's a lot more behringer floating around than I ever expected, but I guess you have to see it with your own eyes.
God how is Henry still on
God how is Henry still on this Show!? He is "kind of dumb" graduated from loser to dumb. I don't know about this guy!
you weiners never even went
you weiners never even went to Musikmesse!!!??? how can you possibly review this shit with the magazine in front of you!? Damn thats not good Henry.
keeping it on the guitar
keeping it on the guitar joint henry. i stopped paying attention to0. Where is your metal riff douche? thats what i thought...
doeifur? what?
You (Britton) sound like a snob synth elitist jerk throwing terms out there that don't make sense to the general public, educate us, bring the pompous lexicon down to layman's terms.
What's with the "modeling" bashing? I like Kate Moss....Line 6, focusrite, GForce software and others have done a great job at giving the average joe the sound that they can't afford to get in the hardware world.
*my 2 cents*
