Steinberg Cubase 4.0 Control Room - AES 2006

October 24, 2006
Cubase 4.0 Control Room
One of the cooler features of Steinberg's newest incarnation of the popular Cubase DAW workstation is what's known as Control Room. It allows you to rapidly switch between external sources like CD, DAT, DVD, and iPod. It also offers dedicated headphone and monitor channels, and allows you create up to four studio mixes, such as separate mixes for a guitar booth, vocal booth, drum booth, etc.

FADI HAYEK: One of the other things that's also nice about this new version is the use of a control room feature. A lot of people, you know, they not only have the computer to use but they may have keyboards, they may have an iPod, they may also have to have a few performers working with them and they may need to have headphone mixes and so forth. And so, the control room feature allows you to have all of that right inside your software so you can actually create a talk-back mic, so you can speak to people in your recording studio via talk-back mic.

You can also route to DVD players, your iPod, and create multiple room environment for your speakers and then simply be able to access them right from the control room very quickly and very easily, so this gives you the high-powered feature that usually you'll only find on a large-scale console included right inside Cubase 4, and those are some of the key features that are new in this version. There's a lot more to check out. Go to www.steinbergusers.com for some great videos that will show you more detail about Cubase 4. Thank you.
