Winter NAMM 2007 - DDrum USA Custom Set
In this vid Kevin from DDrum takes us through the specs. The camera loves this drum set so we also got some nice close ups.
KEVIN PACKARD: Good day NAMM Show viewers. My name's Kevin Packard and I'm coming to you live here from the DDrum booth and I'm the guy who runs the show here at DDrum. It's our second year doing acoustic drums as well as electronic percussion, the market, and we're really excited to be doing it here at the NAMM Show this year in 2007.
This drum kit's been getting a lot of people's attention, and I want to go through a couple of things with you that are kind of exciting about it. This is part of our USA Custom Series drums, and we used a lot of Gibraltar rack parts to make this custom rack possible. Basically what it entails is a 20" dub spinner in the bass drum, purely for looks and excitement of course, but the kit itself is USA maple. It's a seven-ply on the kick drum and snare, and six plies on the toms.
We've employed a special foil photo lacquer finish on. What you're seeing is not a wrap; it's actually a paint, okay?. It starts with a layer of very thin material that goes on top of the drums, which is not reflective, and is shot with a chemical over the top and to make it basically appear like the mirror, and then it's lacquered about 30 times to make it really sparkle. So, that's what the finish is on this kit with a 13" snare, 8", 10". 12", and 13" toms with 14" and 16" floor toms. We treated it up a couple of DDrum Decabons on each of the foot positions so you can trigger other sounds. The entire kick is triggered up and then of course we have eight additional DDrum Decabons on each side, with four on each side.
In the meantime, we've also got this amazing rack which I myself designed and put together. It's just employing about 15 to 20 different curved pipes, and a lot of multi-angle clamps so I hope you enjoy it. You'll be seeing it at the Music Farm in Ohio very soon as sold the first day. The retail price in this kit is about $20,000 so get your checkbooks out. Thanks very much.
