DAN AGOSTO: Hi. Welcome to Gearwire.Com. We're taking a look at the Danelectro Tuna Melt Tremolo Pedal today. Let's see what's in the box.

So, inside the plastic, of course we have the pedal, very minimal sort of instructions. They have a few setting that you can use and inside you have the registration card sent in to Danelectro for the warranty. So, the pedal is pretty small. Most of the Danelectro pedals are pretty small. They got just a plain in/out, also a DC in, and on the back you can see that there's a little screw to take off the back to put the battery in. I usually use like a coin or something like that to get it open in a pinch. You can use a flathead screwdriver as well., and as we can see it already has a battery inside so it's all set to go, and you just get the back back on. All right, that's Danelectro Tuna Melt out of the box.

All right, we got the Danelectro Tuna Melt Tremolo Pedal all plugged in and ready to go. I've got a Gretsch Duo Jet guitar and we're playing it through a Marshall JCM2000 half stack. Let's see what kind of sound we're getting with no effect in.

[DAN AGOSTO PLAYING GUITAR WITH THE DANELECTRO TUNA MELT BYPASSED]

All right, let's bring the effect in. As you can see, we got both knobs up at about midnight or straight up. The mode is on soft as opposed to hard.

[DAN AGOSTO PLAYING GUITAR WITH THE DANELECTRO TUNA MELT ENGAGED IN SOFT MODE]

So you can see the kind of modulation effect that it's adding to it. The speed is pretty slow for this type of effect in my opinion. The speed knob over here straight up, and if we would go down, this effect gets really slow.

[DAN AGOSTO PLAYING GUITAR WITH THE DANELECTRO TUNA MELT ENGAGED, SPEED KNOB AT SLOWEST SETTING]

So it can be used for that sort of effect but the more classic types of effects in this realm would be sort of faster.

[DAN AGOSTO PLAYING GUITAR WITH THE DANELECTRO TUNA MELT ENGAGED, SPEED KNOB AT FASTER SETTING]

Well, would get some more sort of vintagey sort of tones. Of course, we also have the depth knob. Let's keep this speed knob around two or three o'clock. The depth knob of course will -- you can lower the depth.

[DAN AGOSTO PLAYING GUITAR WITH THE DANELECTRO TUNA MELT ENGAGED, DEPTH KNOB AT LOW SETTING]

That's where it's almost barely noticeable, and we can also raise the depth to get more of a sort of severe effect.

[DAN AGOSTO PLAYING GUITAR WITH THE DANELECTRO TUNA MELT ENGAGED, DEPTH KNOB AT HIGHER SETTING]

And of course, there's also the mode switch. This is going from soft to hard. Soft is sort of either a ramps-up-ramps-down sort of a triangle waveform or a sine waveform, probably a triangle waveform that's usually most common, and if we switch it to hard, we're going to get more of an on/off effect, sort of square waveform modulating the volume.

[DAN AGOSTO PLAYING GUITAR WITH THE DANELECTRO TUNA MELT ENGAGED, HARD MODE]

And when you're in this mode with this pedal, depth really doesn't do much.

[DAN AGOSTO PLAYING GUITAR WITH THE DANELECTRO TUNA MELT ENGAGED, HARD MODE]

That's all the way down. If we turn it up all the way...,

[DAN AGOSTO PLAYING GUITAR WITH THE DANELECTRO TUNA MELT ENGAGED, HARD MODE]

...pretty much the same sound. The speed knob is really the only thing that's going to get you any changes here. We have extremely slow...,

[DAN AGOSTO PLAYING GUITAR WITH THE DANELECTRO TUNA MELT ENGAGED, HARD MODE, SPEED KNOB AT SLOWEST SETTING]

...might be cool for sort of a tempo sync effect, or really fast almost getting up to where it's a ring-modulator-type effect.

So that's the Danelectro Tuna Melt Tremolo Pedal. Thanks for checking it out at Gearwire.Com.
