Dave Smith Instruments Mopho Features "One Voice Of The Prophet," Kool-Aid Not included

Dave Smith Mopho Winter NAMM 2009

The synthesis prophet behind the Prophet 08 gives Gearwire the details on his newest release, the Dave Smith Instruments Mopho. As Mr. Smith (if that is his real name) happily explains, the Mopho is like a monophonic Prohpet -- with some unique additional features -- for only $400!

Speaking of prophets, did you know that the Anaheim Marriott stocks the Book of Mormon in their bedside drawers, alongside the Gideon's Bible? Wait a minute: Anaheim is in California. Prophet 08. Prop 8. Mormons. . . you know, I'm gonna let that thread go.

Old video formats, please!

Yet another article that would be nice to be able to see in the old formats. Flash is nice for some applications, but not all of us can see it.

The best solution would be to have flash for those that can use it and the other video formats for those that want to use them instead.

Thanks in advance!

I hate to comment on this, but seriously if you can't play Flash in this day and age(which is like it or not the future of online video see Hulu, Youtube etc.) then you need to start learning how to install flash plug-ins and use them (all of which is extremely easy to do).

IF you still need to download the videos and convert them to some other format google is your friend (and as it should be! don't mess with google) and download this firefox extension to download videos: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006 converting videos to other formats takes time which is why you normally don't see any heavy streaming websites do such things ie. Hulu, Youtube etc. If you got the time once you have a FLV (Flash Video File) you should be able to do it yourself (here again google is your friend). I'm pretty sure Gearwire will work on adding embedding, and other cool tricks once they start fleshing out this player they have.

At least

... they could use an open video format that can work on any platform. Would be much nicer than just using flash only.

The problem is not being able to install flash, but to have a machine that can run the required flash version. For various unresolvable hardware reasons I cannot install the required operating system. And for various other reasons I am unable to upgrade the hardware.

Hence my request to the site maintainers to supply the old video formats. I like the idea of gearwire using flash, but I think it should be as an addition rather than replacement for the old video formats.

It is fairly easy to install flash, even manually on Linux. I have done that a number of times. Unfortunately more recent versions does not work for me.

Thanks for the Video DownloadHelper link. Will take a look at it.
