dbx SC-64 and dbx SC-32: Easy Wizards Set Up Your Processing System

February 06, 2008
dbx System Core

The new dbx SC-32 and SC-64 kick off the new System Core line of Digital Matrix Processors. These processors utilize Harman's HiQnet System Architect for easily configurable routing options and high DSP power.

I haven't seen this much wizard power since Saruman battled Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

J. IRVING-GILES: Hi. This is Josh from Gearwire. I'm here with Jeff Harris from dbx, and we're looking at the SC64 and SC32, new from dbx.

JEFF HARRIS: Thanks Josh. The System Core 32 and the System Core 64 are our new digital matrix processors. We're kind of taking up where we left off with our ZonePRO processors, giving people the ability to use a tremendous amount of DSP for a multiplicity of different applications.

The System Core 32 has a total of 32 either inputs or outputs and it's configurable, so you can basically have 16 x 16 or you could have 24 x 8, or you can possibly short-load it at 8 x 8. You can use this to design DSP processing for restaurant applications, schools, house of worship, health clubs, any application where you have multiple inputs and multiple outputs and you want to matrix mix those inputs or outputs and also process those inputs or outputs as well.

The System Core 64 has a total of 64 I/O, obviously also configurable in banks of 8. It could be a 32 x 32 or any other configuration. We're really excited about this because this allows people to design very robust processing systems on a very, very easy-to-use software wizard. Like our ZonePRO processors, the System Core stuff allows you to step through a setup wizard in a semi-fixed architecture. It's not a large open architecture system like for example our Soundweb processors or other brands like Mini Matrix, it's something that anybody with very little experience on computers can use or design a very well functioning system.

My opinion is awesome. I'd like to take a gear survey
