Dean Dime Razorback 10k: Design Offers Tantalizing Mix Of Danger And Saftey
The Razorback guitars were the re-imagining of the Dean ML, the guitar of choice for late, great metal genius "Dimebag" Darrell Lance Abbott. Partially due to the recognition the guitar got in the hands of Dimebag, and partially due to the fact that the guitars look and play like none other, over 10,000 units have been sold since the re-branding, according to Dean.
To celebrate this milestone (the "californium anniversary") Dean has announced a new Razorback variant: the Dime Razorback 10k. The 10k's standout feature is the faux diamond-plate (get it?) top finish, an aesthetic that is literally heavy metal. Concerned that the added weight will cramp your style and neck muscles? No worries, it's just light-weight molded plastic over the mahogany body. It will still offer some slip protection -- no more lost fingertips due to overzealous palm-muting.
The Razorback also features a rosewood fretboard with peal razor inlay at the 12th fret, and "DIME" logo on the wing-shaped headstock. There's a Dean-designed humbucker in the neck position and Seymour Duncan Dimebucker at the bridge position.
The bridge is a locking Floyd Rose, the tuners are Grover, and feature Dime's signature "traction knobs", which, in conjunction with the diamond-plate top, make the 10k the Razorback with the highest μ-rating* available.
