Console maker DiGiCo wants you to join its "red revolution" with the new SD9 compact digital mixing console. The SD9 is a complete, integrated system, which includes the mixing surface, a D-Rack digital stage interface, CAT5E digital multicore, up to 56 channels of recording, and bright red endpieces.

Ideal for touring bands, small venue performances, schools, and the like, the SD9 features an easy to use work surface with a large, full-color digital TFT LCD touch-sensitive screen, 24 full-length motorized faders with touch-sensitive fader caps, high-resolution bar graph meters, accessible encoders and buttons, and user-defined RGB backlit LCD scribble strips.

Its Stealth Digital Processing software and accompanying Super FPGA technology incorporates floating-point processing to provide superior headroom, dynamic range, and audio quality, according to DiGiCo. The SD9's other features include snapshots, global scope, channel-specific recall scope per snapshot, a global crossfade for each console section, and eight user Macros for fast access to presets.

The new D-Rack, connected to the work surface by the included digital CAT5E cable, features 32 microphone inputs, 8 line outputs, and 8 modular outputs that can be selected as either analog or AES, providing a capacity of 32 inputs and 16 outputs.

What's more, the SD9 system is expandable -- simply connect a second D Rack via an additional CAT5E to double the number of inputs and outputs. The D-Rack can be floor- or rackmounted with the option of a standard single power supply or dual redundant supplies. A further option provides a fiber optic connection, which provides full compatibility with any DiGiCo SD Series console fitted with Optics.

The SD9 console also provides a standard MADI connection, which allows 56 channels of multitrack recording output to a computer running Apple Logic, Steinberg Cubase, Steinberg Nuendo, Digidesign Pro Tools, or any other DAW or multitrack recording software.
