Digidesign 003 Rack+ Factory: New Pro Tools Rig Receives Praise For A+ Rack
With the bombshell that is the announcement of Pro Tools 8 and the Bomb Factory plugins that come with the all new Digidesign 003 Rack+ Factory, I have a feeling that Digidesign is up to something big. Some say that it's just a whole new Pro Tools rig, but I still felt it was my obligation as an American to report Digidesign to the Department of Homeland Security for its explosive verbiage.
DESTINY MACARIO: Hi. I'm [PH] Destiny Macario from Digidesign, and I'm here at AES 2008, and I want to talk to you a little bit about our new hardware interface, new Pro Tools LE system called the 003 Rack+.
And essentially what this is is very similar to the 003 Rack product except that it has eight mic preamps built into it, and you can actually see those guys right on the back of this puppy here. There's the mic preamps. It's also got some line DI's built into it, and if we take a look back at the front of this thing again, you've got trim controls for all the preamps right on the front. You've also got an analog high pass filter built in for all the pres as well as 48-volt phantom power and pad built in and controllable for each of the preamps. You got a new DI input right in the front of the thing, nice and handy, and of course a couple of headphone outputs and controls for those discrete outputs.
And of course this comes with Pro Tools 7.4 software, but one of the other things that we've show at AES this year is new Pro Tools 8 software, so anybody who goes out and buys this thing will get a free upgrade to Pro Tools 8 software. It's going to be out and ready by the end of the year. Price is going to be $1,695, and it comes with our factory plugin bundle so it comes with essentially I think it's around $3,000 worth of additional Digidesign Bomb Factory plugins in the package, $1,695, 003 Rack+ Factory.
