Well... Rusty Anderson's home studio might have a few things yours doesn't (like, RUSTY ANDERSON), but we all need to start somewhere. In a continuing conversation with Gearwire's Patrick Ogle, Rusty gives us his two cents on Pro Tools recording software and on tape...ware.  

Buying plugins individually can be very expensive, let alone getting hardware upgrades such as DSP accelerator cards. An opportunity has sprung up where you can save tens of thousands of dollars with the new Digidesign MassivePack 8.  

Matt Lane and Keith Saunders took their recording show on the road and out into the country. The production team took time to chat about some of the gear they use when recording on location, in this case the Digidesign Digi 002 firewire interface.

With the recent release of Pro Tools 8 and Pro Tools 8 LE, users and potential users of the latter might be interested to learn that Digidesign brings out two new Pro Tools bundles. The 003 Rack Factory Complete and 003 Factory Complete make the LE status almost an insult.  

If you took a gearhead from ten years ago and showed them how it would be possible to record an album with bandmates across the world, their minds would be blown. Put one foot back, and then step forward into the future to have your mind blown in much the same way.  

GW spent a day at the very chi-chi Chicago Recording Company studios with Studio manager and engineer extraordinaire Chris Shepard. Chris cracked open one of CRC's hyperbaric chambers to give us a look at a towering, 48 I/O Pro Tools HD3 rig and its Apogee Big Ben word clock.  

Mike from Agency of Spirits loves his Digidesign RM1 Reference Monitors, because they work so well with Pro Tools, and might even make his iPod sound good. Maybe.  

Even though I'm not a big fan of math, Digidesign 003 Rack+ Factory is an equation for another quality Pro Tools setup. With the announcement of Pro Tools 8 in concordance with the release of the 003 Rack+ Factory, I think it'll add up to big news for Pro Tools fanatics.  

We read the specs, and just had to head over to the Digidesign booth to see for ourselves. Here it is: Pro Tools 8 in all it's glory. Well, some of it's glory. There's a lot of glory to be had with Pro Tools 8, as Digidesign Marketing Manager Max Gutnik explains.  

Digidesign is pretty positive about the facility of their new 003 Rack+ Factory. It's a great solution for non-studio owners who want Pro Tools setups.

Digidesign tries to trump everyone at 125th AES in San Francisco with the announcement of Digidesign Pro Tools 8. The most well-known name in the DAW game is sure to cause at least one celebratory riot at the Moscone Center.  

John Ritz teaches courses on composition and computer recording at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, and as a teacher, he's quite smitten with Digidesign Pro Tools and tells us why. As if you needed another reason to check out the industry standard DAW.

From now until September 20th, 2008, Digidesign is offering MassivePack bundles, plugin collections that include some of the most sought-after processors in the industry. These bundles will save Pro Tools HD users literally thousands of dollars.  

In our series of nearly-forgotten Movement footage, we came across our interview with a man who's omission from the website would have been tragic: Chicago-Based Producer / DJ Paul Anthony. Not that he necessarily needs the coverage: sounds like Mr. Anthony's been keeping plenty busy.

Digidesign releases a pre-release (or possibly pre-releases a release?) of Pro Tools 7.4 for those using Mac OS X 10.5.3 or higher. It hasn't been fully tested, so use at your own risk.
