DigiTech VX 400 With Donita Sparks Of L7 And Donita Sparks + The Stellar Moments
L7 frontwoman Donita Sparks talks about the differences between her guitar rig in L7 and her less stressful rig with her new band, Donita Sparks + The Stellar Moments. In it, all Donita's feet have to worry about is footswitching channels. With less tap dancing, this allows Donita to add a purple vocal effects box (we assume the DigiTech VX 400) to add some more flavor to the mic.
DONITA SPARKS: Hi. I'm Donita Sparks.

I use a vocal pedal, purple, and so I use that and then I use reverb for my Marshall head. It's got reverb. It's got two channels so I get the distortion thing and the clean thing with reverb. So yeah.
PATRICK OGLE: Do you stick with pretty much straight from the amp?
DONITA SPARKS: Yeah. I mean I've got a channel switcher that switches from channel to channel.
PATRICK OGLE: Swinging to channel but it's not -- you're not using any added...?
DONITA SPARKS: No.
PATRICK OGLE: Any particular reason why? Is it just to get rid of the pain in the butt or you get the sound you want?
DONITA SPARKS: In L7 I had multi-pedals and it was a pain in the ass, and my Flying V also had like -- it had a whammy bar so it had the Allen Wrench tuning.
PATRICK OGLE: Oh those things.
DONITA SPARKS: Which was just like I wanted to really simplify with this new band like so I'm just playing rhythm guitar and then I put down the guitar for half a set, and Alan, my lead guitarist, he's got pedals. He's, you know, he's got some pedals and my bass player does as well.
PATRICK OGLE: So that's their problem?
DONITA SPARKS: That's their problem. That's their battery problem.
