DigiTech Vocalist Live 3: Three-Part Vocal Harmonizer And Pitch Correction Pedal
Now shipping, the DigiTech Vocalist Live 3 ($429.95 MSRP) is a jack of all trades pedal offering three-part vocal harmony, pitch correction, and vocal pre-effects.
The new Vocalist Live 3 features an intelligent vocal harmony processor that analyzes guitar chord progressions and lead vocals, and automatically generates live multi-part vocal harmony. With the Live 3 on hand, you might just have to give your backup singers the pink slip.
In addition to vocal processing and three-part harmony, the Live 3 provides Gender Control that gives each harmonizing voice a masculine or feminine sound. Using the Humanize setting, you can further customize how realistic the harmonized voices, male or female, will sound.
MusIQ technology allows the Live 3 to continually follow the lead voice and the notes being played on the guitar and in turn generate accurate and musically correct vocal harmonies. According to DigiTech, MusIQ eliminates the need to pre-program the songs’ key or key changes.
Vocalist Live 3 also features natural-sounding pitch correction and five different vocal pre-effects, including warmth (tube preamp), compression, EQ, and Noise Gate. You also get three different room settings for reverb and five separate delay settings for vocals, as well as guitar effects, reverb, chorus, and a built-in guitar tuner.

great piece of equipment
I usually don't review gear, but I just picked up the VL3 this past weekend and it is a really cool piece of equipment. It is very simple to set up straight out of the box and it's functions are completely self explanatory. I haven't even looked at the manual yet. The harmonies sound so real that it is creepy. There is even a gender control that allows the voices to sound more male or female. They REALLY do sound gender specific. It has a pitch control function, but it tends to make the harmonies sound less authentic. I have not really experimented with that function. I have only played with mine at home so far, but it will definitely be gigging with me this weekend. If you're show needs back-up singers, pick one of these up. They are more reliable and cheaper than actual musicians.
Digitech live VL3
Just finished going through the set up process. Even though you can use this unit out of the box, I would really suggest that you take the time to set up the unit following the manufacturers suggestions. Makes a huge difference in your overall satisfacton with the unit. I'd have to say this is one of the best additions I've made to my rather extensive collection in quite some time. I highly recommend it for use either at home or live. It lives up to its reputation and then some. Definitely worththe money if you perform live and need backup vocals that sound professional and most importantly, human.
