I confess to knowing only what I looked up on the internet about Dingwall, so please, tell me about it bass. What model is it? What year? When did you get it?

The Dingwall is without a doubt the best bass I have ever heard and played in my life. It's an Afterburner II. I got it (as an endorsement) about two years ago. I will never look for another bass again, I'm hooked.

What's so good about it?

The incredible sustain, possibly because of the fanned frets. It's a 5 string bass and the low B string sounds amazing, it's got a lot of tone and depth.

What is bad about it?

I haven't found anything bad about it, really. I got used to the fanned frets really fast. I just ignore them, close my eyes and go for it!

Tell me about the tone of the bass, what makes it different from other brands, models..what makes you play it?

It's a got a very bright tone if you want it, while it still keeps the bottom end. Usually the B string sounds kinda dead on a bass guitar; not on the Dingwall.

What sort of amp do you use with this bass and why?

I use a Sansamp RBI pre-amp, no speakers. The bass sounds so good, I don't want too many components in the chain.

How about strings; are there particular strings that work best with this bass?

I got Voodoo Bass strings with the Dingwall, they came with the guitar. Maybe they are made by Dingwall? [Ed. Note: they are.]
