Discmakers Celebrates 60 Years - AES 2006
WARREN MOLIKEN: Hi. My name is Warren Moliken. I'm Disc Makers' western regional manager. Disc Makers is a complete turnkey manufacturing facility for CDs and DVDs.
We print our packaging, we make our discs, we silkscreen our discs, complete start-to-finish operation. We specialize in board packaging, products like a Digipak or a DVD Digipak, high-end premium CD packaging needs. One of our specialties is full-color on-screen printing, which is double the industry standard.
Disc Makers also does jewel boxes, jackets, wallets, pretty much a one-stop-shop for everything. We've been in business for 60 years. We're celebrating our 60th anniversary and I know we have been making CDs for 60 years but we did 78s and 45s and all different kinds of shellac from back in the day. We switched over to eight-tracking cassette in the 60s. We just stopped pressing vinyl about a year and a half ago, and now we focus on our CD and DVD and our duplication systems.
We've got a factory located in outside of Philadelphia, 450 people there, regional offices in Puerto Rico, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle, Berkeley, and Los Angeles, and we're all set up and geared for the next big thing.
We're adding a merchandising division to our offerings right now, so not only can you come to Disc Makers and get a thousand CDs, 300 posters, postcards, but you can also get your T-shirts, you can get your hat, you can get your sweat shirt, and we're going to be launching an audio download channel so our clients who receive their CDs on a Wednesday, you'll be able to download their music on a Thursday, it'll be an all-independent channel, and just another way for the independent artist to get their music out there.
