At long last, DiscoDSP has released a new version of its virtual synthesizer, Vertigo ($99), in Audio Units and VST formats for Intel-based Macs.

This 256-oscillator additive synth with resynthesis and sound morphing features, imports WAV audio and PNG images and is purported to make accurate re-creations of complex musical phrases, drumloops, speech, and simple tones. The full version of Vertigo includes 128 presets.

Vertigo offers up to 16 voices polyphony; comprehensive envelope and filter sections; synthesis options such as harmonize, phase smearing, and frequency smearing; resonant filters, envelopes, and pitch bend for voice control; your usual sprinkling of mono and stereo effects; and of course, resynthesis and sampling capabilities.
