Essentially, the 4099 is a supercardiod microphone for close mic'ing in a live performance where you need the maximum gain before feedback.

We separate the mic by families and mounting accessories, so you have a similar mic like what we see here but then what we have is we have multiple different mounting accessories. For example, this would be for the guitar. You can ratchet into the guitar size. You can also release it.

Some benefits to this mic is it has a very smooth off-axis response. It can handle high SPL so you never have to worry about clipping the microphone, and it's really versatile in mounting and adjustment, so actually you can see here how this compression ring comes off and you can adjust the actual gooseneck height as well as bend the gooseneck, so we don't want to slide it out, we get the maximum gooseneck here, bring the compression ring down, and now we'll go back up to the guitar where we actually can simply just snap this mic in place, and now bend it over to adjust.

DPA has been able to use interference tube type technology to create a very tight pattern of the microphone but also allow for a very natural and accurate microphone, and that's really what we do.
