Dunlop KH95 Kirk Hammett Signature Crybaby Wah: Ride The Whining
Having exhausted my fish-in-a-barrel joke quota in the headline and front page teaser text, I have nothing left to say about the new Dunlop KH95 Kirk Hammett SIgnature Crybaby Wah.
Except that it's radical!
Also: that it's actually not something you'll find on tour with Metallica, probably ever. See, Kirk uses a DCR1SR Crybaby Rack Wah, has for years, but being that it's unlikely that anyone would drop $600+ on a signature rack wah unit from Dunlop, even if it does have the guitarist's name branded upon it, Dunlop has released the KH95 as a sort of consumer compromise.
Kirk's Signature Dunlop Crybaby takes his favorite Rack Wah EQ, sweep and notch settings and ports them into the compact, pedal-form KH95. The KH95 features no controls other than its rocker switch -- the tone is dictated to the player by Dunlop and Mr. Hammett, which is fine if you're digging the thing's voice, but uninspiring for tone-tweakers. Either you sound like Kirk Hammett playing with Metallica, or you get another pedal. That tone, by the way, is described by Dunlop as being "exceptionally even in response as you move from heel to toe, with a thick top end and full dynamic range." Uh-huh.
The only other thing the KH95 has going for it is some take-it-or-leave-it graphics. The rocker mat features a skeletal foot, integrated with the rubber tread pattern, and the housing is done in a black-to-metallic-green fade that reminds me of the Grave Digger monster truck.
The Dunlop KH95 Kirk Hammett Signature Crybaby Wah lists for $264.61 US, with a street price or $159.99 US.

This thing looks like a real
This thing looks like a real turd.
Compare the features and tonal description for their EVH flanger to this and you can see what a gimmick the Jerk Hamlet pedal is.
Whay not just make a dunglop brick wall limiter for your p.a. Make your band sound like a Metallicacca record.
Turd turd turd!
this pedal is awesome
this pedal is better than anyother wah pedal i have tried , and dave musturdaine, you need to shut the fuck up before you smacked the fuck up, megafagg doesnt even use wah wah pedals and yours probably just mad at the world cause you probably have a 2 inch cock
This thing does not like
This thing does not like like a turd your face does Dave Musturdaine. This wah sound sound like the noise your mother and I make while making thousnads of babies. So shout your mouth because you will never be as good as Kirk in any life time is you even tried. So go eat turds while I go see your mommy again tonight.
Great comments, morons...
Just wanted to congratulate both of you on your great constructive comments.
i agree completely,and they
i agree completely, and they both need to watch the spell check big time
Can't Wait!
i have been wanting this wah for quite some time now, now i don't want to sound like kirk with this since i don't want to steal his "sound" but i love his technique and love his solos, Very unique solos, i don't care if he uses a wah or not for solos, he can let loose hell with solos, i just wish i could get it signed by him, like i have Zakk's signiture on my Zakk Wylde pedal, i wonder if they'll make a Cliff Burton wah pedal? that would be sick, and i doubt anybody would negative on that, instead of hearing people complain that Kirk uses too much wah all of the time on youtube
whatever
I bought one last night at the local guitar center, personally don't care who's name was on it. I tried a few and liked the sweep angle on this one best.. They were all the same price,, perhaps I'll just paint it flat black. Bottom line is don't buy one of these things for the name,, buy it because you like it or move on to the next. You will never sound like kirk because you bought the same gear as him,, it's more about technique than anything. Kirk would still sound like Kirk even on your gear.
awesome
i bought this wah because i am a huge metallica and kirk hammett fan i think that he has some of the best guitar solos in all of rock history. That is why i ordered this pedal and i have been using a wah-wah peddle since a month after i started playing guitar (last november) and this is a great peice of equipment, I highly recomend it.
P.S. try using it and play the Judas kiss solo
i own a vox wah pedal that
i own a vox wah pedal that my father bought in the 60's, and i decided to buy the kirk crybaby cause i thought it would be a kick ass pedal. i was wrong, my old vox pedal shits on it, im so pissed off i wasted $260.00.
