Way Huge Swollen Pickle, Way Huge Pork Loin, Way Huge Fat Sandwich: Like The McRib, They're Back!
The first wave of Jim Dunlop reissued Way Huge electronics extreme guitar effects is here. We've waited since January to hear which of the famed and wacky effects would be the first to re-see the light of day, and now we know.
Way Huge was known for it's food-themed pedal names, and as such, the first three reissues can be described according to Kashrut (כַּשְׁרוּת):
The Way Huge Swollen Pickle MKII Jumbo Fuzz is a massive fuzz box that's a little more focused than a FuzzFace, while still sounding bigger. Its controls include "Loudness," "Filter," "Sustain," "Scoop" and "Crunch." According to כַּשְׁרוּת it is כָּשֵׁר (kosher).
The Way Huge Pork Loin Soft Clip Injection is a very-musical sounding overdrive with uncannily tube-like warmth. Controls are "Volume," "Tone," "Overdrive," "Clean" and "Curve." According to כַּשְׁרוּת it is טְרֵפָה (treif).
The Way Huge Fat Sandwich Harmonic Saturator is a distortion box that seems to have no problem acheiving the sought-after "Van Halen Brown Sound," as well as many other thick distortion tones besides. Controls include "Volume," "Tone," "Distortion, "Presence" and "Resonance." This one's a bit iffy, but according to כַּשְׁרוּת, it's best just to play it safe and call it טְרֵפָה.
All the pedals operate on a 9 volt battery or power supply, are housed in rugged steel enclosures and operate in mono. Pricing and availability are still לא ידוע.
