EarthQuaker Devices Ghost Echo Makes Your Guitar Seem Like Its Speaking From The "Beyond"
When we talk about reverb, we usually talk about a trick to give that feeling of space. Whether its singing in the bathroom or hearing a big pipe organ play across the space of a grand cathedral, there is something about reverberations that makes sound feel alive. What if you want to give an impression of something that sounds supernatural? How exactly could you reproduce that? This is the thrust of the EarthQuaker Devices Ghost Echo.
Whether or not being named "Ghost Echo" is a catch-all name meant to either attract guitarists who want to play out sort of supernatural themes or really sound like its surreal and supernatural can be questioned, but a clear objective of the Ghost Echo is to be a good vintage reverb unit emulation. When you talk about "vintage" nowadays, you can't really separate it from the terms "analog" and "warmth". This pedal can exhibit either just a little reverberated atmosphere or bring your entire signal to a really deep setting. Giving a page to vintage equipment, playing your guitar staccato through this device gives a slap back type of echo and fattens up your sound for smooth legato lines. Using the dwell control enhances the decay and the depth control takes over the intensity of the reverb.
This pedal can be powered with any standard 9-Volt DC power supply with a negative center 2.1-mm barrel. However, this pedal does not have an option for battery power so it will be a turn off for some people already used to having batteries around. It is assumed that if you already have a set of stompboxes and a pedalboard, you are not a stranger to having that wall-wart power supply with you. The EarthQuaker Devices Ghost Echo will be available from EarthQuaker dealers by October 1, 2009 for 155.00 USD.
