EAW DX1208 DSP Matrix Mixer: Simplicity And Flexibility, Just Like A Bendy Straw
Ever been to a conference or a meeting where sound installations are so problematic that it causes a lot of wasted time? To save themselves from an angry CEO about to deliver the latest report of company stock performance, audio engineers/sound technicians for installed sound applications look for simple operation and impressive expandable features in their choice of equipment. These guys are in for a treat as sound systems solutions leader EAW has introduced the EAW DX1208, a new DSP matrix mixer, at InfoComm 2009. The DX1208 is the direct result of end-user feedback and represents the next generation of DSP applications from EAW. Intuitive design, high performance, and cost effectiveness remain the general hallmarks of EAW's latest release.
The DX1208 is a 1U-rackspace DSP matrix mixer with 12 input ports and 8 output ports. Eight of these inputs are mic/line capable and are provided with selectable 48-volt phantom power when the user selects mic level. Owing to a rack-mountable design plus additional four inputs on unbalanced RCA connectors, users of the DX1208 can "stack" inputs to increase the number of audio sources to be connected. Also available are four additional digital inputs via S/PDIF that have a sample rate conversion of 48 kHz. Prior to signal distribution at line level, all of these inputs can be assigned DSP functions and are all included in the audio matrix as well.
The connectivity and functional expansions don't stop there as the DX1208 can receive up to six logic inputs and can send up to three logic outputs, all combined in a single 18-pin connector and programmable via bundled EAW DX Navigator software. Add to that a remote control port (RJ-25 connector), more detailed control and processing using the included EAW DX Navigator software (with 24 programmable presets), and connectivity options via USB, Ethernet, and serial RS-232 via a DB9 connector, you have a lot of flexibility in order to control the DX1208 as well as process sound the way you want it.
FEATURES:
- 32-bit DSP and 24-bit analog-digital conversion
- Eight balanced mic/line inputs and four unbalanced line inputs
- Four digital input channels via S/PDIF
- Six programmable logic inputs, three programmable logic outputs
- 16-channel DX Link expansion bus
- USB, Ethernet and RS-232 connectivity
With an impressive set of features, the DX1208 is ideal for commercial and installed sound applications. Owing to the design of the DX1208 EAW guarantees a smoother workflow and less hassles for your installed sound needs. A problem-free installed sound operation makes for a relaxed technician, an attentive audience, and an enthusiastic featured speaker.
