EAW MicroWedge15: Line Of Tiny Stage Monitors Expands Ever So Slightly
Pushing multiple semantic boundaries, EAW expands its line of compact monitors with the medium sized EAW MicroWedge15, joining the smaller MicroWedge12, which now looks even smaller by comparison. It follows, then, that if you want to save stage space, buy more and larger EAW MicroWedge15s.
The MicroWedge series was developed by EAW in conjunction with Rat Sound Systems Inc. -- but don't worry, they're not actually a company made up of rats. nor are they simply interest in the sounds that rats make. They're a pro-sound retailer, systems designer and engineering firm, and they provide tour support personnel as well. Mr. Rat himself is actually on tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, so it's a safe bet that Rat Sound knows what they're doing when it comes to designing stage monitors.
The MicroWedge15 in particular offers some improvements over previous MicroWedge models: the transducers have been upgraded, and structural improves have been made to the enclosure itself for a more rugged and acoustically resonant housing.
The MicroWedge still features the space-saving coaxial drives, with a HF tweeter nested within a 15" woofer for time-aligned sound projection. The MicroWedges can be run either passively or actively with onboard processor "enhancing," which sorta works the same way that surveillance cameras in TV crime shows do (just yell "enhance" and the camera's POV becomes basically omniscient).
The MicroWedge15 is available now.
