EBS Fafner II Dual-Channel Bass Amplifer to Debut At MuskiMesse
Named after a legendary dragon, the EBS Fafner amplifier has become a legend itself, according to the manufacturer. Now EBS has announced the birth of Fafner's progeny, the Fafner II dual-channel bass amp, which will likely have no problems filling its pop's shoes.
The Fafner II sports two channels, a footswitch control, two separate XLR outputs, individual effect loops, a built-in compressor, and a protected power amp. Its two-channel preamp can be run in series or parallel mode, and its remote footswitch control (EBS RM-4) allows you to switch between the channels and bypass filters, or blend them together, kick in the character filters, or mute the rig while tuning. The amp also has two separate balanced XLR outputs -- one pre- and one post-EQ -- which may be used to blend a clean signal with a processed one straight from the amp.
Individual effect loops for each channel and a common loop provide lots of flexibility when hooking up your effects. You can connect a noise gate to the drive channel, for example, without affecting the clean channel; or use a Chorus on the clean channel without affect the drive channel. The built-in compressor only compresses the sound of the clean channel, leaving the drive channel as wild as you want, notes EBS.
Last but not least, the protected power amp stage provides 750W RMS at 2 ohm load, 610W RMS at 4 ohm, and 310W at 8 ohm.
The EBS Fafner II is now in production in Sweden and will be available in the summer of 2010.
