Edirol "Motion Dive" Video, Winter NAMM 2006

September 30, 2006
Edirol Motion Dive

Edirol's "motion dive" hardware/software package takes a DJ's approach to video editing, allowing DJs, musicians, and back projectionists to manipulate video clips in real time. The MD-P1 hardware control console offers the ability to crossfade between two clips, control the video's playback speed, "scratch" video, transition between clips, and alter visual parameters like hue and balance. The console or a mouse can be used to select a new video clip and mix it into the performance.

The motion dive .tokyo software receives real-time commands via MIDI, which means parameters can be mapped to MIDI controllers like keyboards and electronic drums for live performance. The software can also record all your edit moves for playback later. Seems like a pretty innovative melding of audio and video. See it in action in Gearwire's Edirol motion dive video.
