Edirol

Extended convenience and portability go hand in hand with the R-09HR digital recorder's updated operating system. The user-installable version 2.0 OS adds audio editing functions and play / practice tools such as standard and graphic tuners and a click metronome.  

Back in the field with sound designer Diego Stocco, we become privy to some more of the tools of his dangerous trade. As a side project to his professional media work, Stocco likes to make sound with some unusual bordering on life-threatening sources. Here he talks about the Edirol R-4 and R-09HR recorders, his trusty and sturdy little companions.  

The Edirol UA-25EX is one utilitarian-looking piece of gear, and its form follows its straightforward functionality: a simple two-channel USB interface with an analog compressor in the front end.  

Edirol's new P-10 is an instant video-sampler with a layout that's familiar to anyone who's ever used any of the previous audio samplers by Roland / Boss. To everyone else, I'm guessing it looks like a Gaga-Meter. I also assume that everyone is as obsessed with Ghostbusters as I am.  

If you thought everyone had already released their own field recorder at Winter NAMM, guess again. Edirol reinvents the wheel with their new R-09HR which is easily their top field recording effort to date.
