Electro-Harmonix Bass Blogger: Like The Blog On Scarboroughcountry.org, It Deals In Distortion

Electro-Harmonix Bass Blogger

Electro Harmonix must be encountering the same problem that the auto manufacturing industry has been experiencing for the last twenty-odd years: they're running out of names (the Subaru TriBeCa, anyone?).

I at least enjoyed the Bass Metaphor, but that's 'cause I'm a sucker for meta humor. But how could name something a "Blogger" and not expect it to inspire revulsion in a hefty chunk of your consumer base? The thing better sound blogtastic.

Though there's no demo video up yet, and the link to the product documentation .PDF is broken (bush league!), and the only descriptive copy is nebulous at best -- "Ultra subtle and perfect distortion creates the perfect dialog with your drummer" (get it?) -- there's at least a high-res picture of the thing, offering a hint at it's functionality.

It seems to be a dual-mode effect, with a toggle switch between "fuzz" and "drive." The three rotary controls along the top are the non-surprising "volume," "tone" and "drive" parameters. Nothing crazy-alternative going on here. Looks like we'll basically be waiting for EH to get a demo video up. Or at least some audio.

In closing: Seriously, Subaru? You named an SUV after a neighborhood in Manhattan where you'd be hard pressed to find parking for anything bigger than a Mini-Cooper? When's the SpaHa* coming out?
