Electro-Harmonix POG2: Polyphonic Octave Generator Makes Like Classic Steve Martin
Downsizing is awesome! Am I right? EHX and pedal-lovers agree with me. The Electric Mistress was downsized a few weeks ago, much to the delight of those hurting for both lush stereo echoing and pedalboard real estate. Now the venerable Ployphonic Octave Generator gets the Myron Reducto treatment, except the new Electro-Harmonix POG2 also features new functionality. It's so unbelievably tiny. . . I LOVE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT AND I LOVE IT!
The POG2 retains all it's original functions, but adds several sweet new ones:
- Attack -- create volume envelope swells of varying speeds
- 2nd Suboctave -- even lower bass octave tracking
- Additional q Modes -- for the 2 pole, low pass resonant filter
- Enhanced Detune Effect -- just sounds better
- Enhanced Harmonic Algorithm -- ditto the above
- Save Presets -- that big white know is becoming a new EHX icon; you can now save up to eight different presets on your POG2, and with the pedal's wealth of tonal options, you're going to need it.
The POG2 is true bypass, and only requires 9 volts of power, so it can be easily daisy-chained with other pedals and power supplies (EHX power supply included). MAP on the POG2 will be $324 US. No word yet on the pedal's availability.
