Electro-Harmonix Riddle Q Balls And Electro-Harmonix Enigma Q Balls: Meeting Of The Mikes
There hasn't been a partnering of two guys named Mike this fruitful since ESPN's Mike and Mike in the Morning started their twitter feed. Mike Matthews, he of Electro-Harmonix fame, and Mike Beigel, he of Mu-Tron III, have had a productive relationship since 1994 when they collaborated on the Q-Tron. After subsequently co-designing the Stereo Polyphase, the rack-mounted Bi-Filter, and several Q-Tron derivations, they've announced the newest pedals in the EHX envelope follower family: the Electro-Harmonix Riddle Q Balls and the Electro-Harmonix Enigma Q Balls.
The pictures provided were a little too small to make out the control layout, but we are told that the Riddle will be optimized for guitar while the Enigma is a bass pedal. With the inclusion of "Balls," will the pedals include a distortion circuit? EHX promises more info soon.
Instead of pedal information, they sent out pictures of Mu-Tron Mike vacationing in sunny. . . Antarctica:

And visiting the frighteningly well-preserved shack of one Ernest Shackleton:

When we get more information on the new Q pedals, we'll let you know. Until then, I have but this advice: if you go to Antarctica, don't do like Mike and only pack an EHX T-Shirt. I don't know if you've heard, but it gets pretty cold. Like, Canada-cold.
