Epiphone Les Paul Ukulele: Les Paul Styling And Tones In An Uke

August 02, 2011
Epiphone introduced its Les Paul Ukulele, a solid-body ukulele instrument with the looks and tones of a standard Les Paul.

If you have always wanted your little ukulele to look like a baby guitar, check out the new Les Paul Ukulele from Epiphone. Featuring real Les Paul styling, the new Les Paul Acoustic / Electric Ukulele Outfit sports a solid Mahogany body combined with a flame Maple top.

The Mahogany neck features a comfortable "D"-profile shape and is bolted onto the body with four-recessed screws for stability. Likewise, the rosewood fingerboard features a concert-length 15-inch scale with 19 silver nickel frets and a 16-inch fingerboard radius.

Epiphone notes that when unplugged, the Les Paul Ukulele has great natural acoustic tone and volume, but when plugged in, it really comes alive. The instrument is equipped with a high-quality, piezo film pickup located under the saddle, allowing the natural tone of the strings as well as the sound of the body to be captured accurately and routed to a durable, all-metal, rim-mounted 1/4-inch output jack. Plug it into a PA system or amplifier and you get true acoustic tone that can keep up with a band on any stage, according to Epiphone.

For accurate tuning stability, the Les Paul Ukulele features 14:1 geared machine heads. Unlike traditional "friction" tuners, these tuners have fine-tuning capability and won't slip. The Les Paul Ukulele comes with premium black nylon strings, plus a gig bag with an accessory pocket for easy and safe transport from home to studio to gig. What's more, the Les Paul Ukulele comes with a classic Les Paul-style pickguard that provides extra style, plus protection for the flame Maple top.

Les Paul Ukulele features:

  • Solid Mahogany body with AAA-grade flame Maple top
  • Mahogany neck with comfortable D-profile shape
  • 15" Scale concert length Rosewood fingerboard
  • High-quality, piezo film pickup under the saddle
  • Geared machine heads with 14:1 fine-tuning capability
  • Two available sunburst finishes

Epiphone's new Les Paul Ukulele comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty and is priced at $179 (MSRP). For more information, visit gibson.com.
