Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-II Stars In "All Of Me: Guitar Edition"
June 05, 2009
The Epiphone Les Paul Ultra got a makeover for its fourth birthday! That would be weird for a human, but not a guitar. Behold the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra II, which nicely incorporates its third (acoustic) pickup with an ingenious electronics configuration. The Ultra-II also features an optional stereo output for the NanoMAG pickup, which only adds to the fun.
Enough talk. Let's listen to what the Ultra II can do.

Less Paul ultra? 2 (the electric boogaloo)
I don't think that these guitars sound that good in terms of a "Gibson Les Paul" sound.
Really nice to see Epiphone trying to innovate.
Maybe if they tricked out Danelectro U2, Rickenbacker 12 string, and Gibson Flying V shapes like this they would have something.
Probably the best thing would be to drop the Les Paul association and just go for a more original creation. Have the guitar stand on its own and maybe more Dudes would get it as their THIRD axe.
.
Also, these woodgrain veneers look like God was fingerpainting on Acid.
Your clip
The guitar on left channel only, too bad...
Regards.
I like this guitar
The guitar sounds good it's just the guy playing it that makes it ound mediocre.
Not Realy Les Paul Sound
The Les Paul has become the pro musician's tool it is due to the way the Les Paul sounds!
Put it through a stack of Marshalls and it has a signature sound beloved by the axe handlers of the world.
This guitar is seemingly a fine instrument, perhaps able to stand on it's own strengths rather than try to buy in under the Les Paul moniker.
It's not that hard to design a double cutaway body and great necks are easy to match, this guitar might have been what the SG line needed to re-vitalise it.
You know, you could just as well have hung a Floyd Rose locking tremelo system on it and made the front pickup hotter'n a billygoat in a pepper patch, and went for some new infamy rather than trying to ride Les Pauls coat-tails.
I'm not saying it is a trashy axe, I'm just sayin it's too far removed from the Les Paul that has dominated for so long, of course it's not a Gibson either, so why bother to make it look "Pauly"?
Give me my old Les Paul, my Strat, and my
Jem, and I'll play through a stack of Marshalls, or my stack of Kustoms, and blow the place away. I don't see this axe as replacing any of the aforementioned, and I don't need another in my line-up.
Thanks, but no thanks, I'm just too much of a traditionalist.
ULTRA II
Well, when do you think they'll come out with an upgrade wiring kit??? Sure would like to upgrade my 2008 Ultra II into the "New for 2009" model. But it plays great & sounds great as is. I really like the satin finish neck but would't mind a "wizard" neck on it. I somehow can just play faster on my RG-270 or on my JS-100. I'll let you know how it goes with
my new Epinez (or Ibaphone)Ultra Wizard II. Ever tried carving out a pocket in a set neck to take a bolt on??? HELP!!!
every thing
i still think we should jam, owen, and i love the les paul you were showin i bout it not to long ago and it is great
