Epiphone MM-50E Professional Mandolin With Shadow Electronics NanoMag Pickup: It's Electric! (Video)
February 17, 2011
While he doesn't play any of Vitalogy (like he said he could), Owen at least gets his Vedder on in this video demo of the Epiphone MM-50E Professional Mandolin. This acoustic-electric workhorse boasts a Shadow Electronics NanoMag and preamp system for impressively organic-sounding amplified tone.
The acoustic tone of the Epiphone Professional Mandolin is nothing to laugh at, either. Owen puts both mando-modes through the wringer in this video, which you might consider a bit of an partner-posting to the previously published Pro Review of the MM-50E.

Epiphone MM-50E professional mandolin
I bought a M30 A shape Epiphone mandolin a couple of years ago and was so happy with it that I thought I'd upgrade to this Pro Model. What a disappointment. The tuners were awful like Owen said and the sound was dull and didn't ring out like my $179 Epiphone M30. The pickup seemed very good in duplicating the acoustic sound it made but couldn't make the instrument sound better. I repackaged it and returned it the next day. Papa Al
