AES Vienna Video: Euphonix S5 Fusion Walkthrough

May 14, 2007
euphonix S5

Andrew Wild from Euphonix gives us a look into some of the interesting features of the S5 Fusion board in the video from the floor of 122nd AES in Vienna Austria. Of particular note is the support for multiple DAW platforms simultaneously and the ability to switch seemlessly between them. Check out this vid to see the high end console/controller at work.

Also check out part 1 of this video for even more info.

ANDREW WILD: So, what’s really cool about Fusion, this is the mixing console control surface with faders here, we’ve got eight knobs that are all touch sensitive for EQ and dynamics, and then the top here, we’ve got a screen here for showing metering and what’s going on with the tracks and EQ curves. What’s really is I can press a button and I’ve got my Pro Tools tracks. I’m actually just running a couple of Pro Tools tracks here, and I can control them just as if I was actually using a mouse on the screen, so this is controlling Pro Tools tracks.

If I hit another button, now what’s happening is you see Nuendo’s coming up on the surface, so this is controlling a PC whereas the other one’s controlling a Mac. So now, again, I’ve got individual control of tracks in Nuendo, including EQ, dynamics, everything else. But the cool thing is that I can bring them all together, so now what I’ve got is I’ve got some tracks of our own DSP, I’ve got some tracks of Pro Tools, and I’ve got some tracks of Nuendo all sitting right next to each other on the control surface, and that’s what makes this really cool. It’s that combination of DSP and DAW control on a single surface.

I need awesome gear... I'd like a free gear catalog!
My opinion is awesome. I'd like to take a gear survey
