Electrovoice SB2A: Powerful Subwoofer That Likes To Share.
Like the Giant Turtle on whose back the world rests, the new SB2A Subwoofer from Electro-Voice can become the support for your entire compact PA. And at a little over 35 lbs., even non-Atlases can port the thing.
With dual on-board 350 watt amplifiers, the SB2A's switchable powered speaker output can handle either an external 8 ohm passive subwoofer or full range loudspeaker, making it the perfect solution for a compact, "sub-driven" system. It can be easily configured with a variety of loudspeakers for any sound reinforcement situation where there's a premium on space but with no room for less-than-premium sound.
EV recommends a few SB2A-powered system setups:
- With a ZX1-90, as a standalone PA that fits in the front seat of your car [note: EV does not consider your Dodge Omni a "car"]
- In clusters with SX100 or SX300
- With a passive SB122, for portable lightweight sub extension to replace bulky 15-inch two-way systems
- With an additional powered top box [such as the SXA100+]
Plus, the EV SB2A is housed in the company's super-tough injection-molded enclosure, meaning it's strong, durable, and damn pretty, just like Fabio -- who, by the way, would make a GREAT Atlas on film. Schumacher, call me.
