Eventide Timefactor: This Time, The U2 Reference Is For Real
In part one of our visit with Alan Chaput from Eventide, Alan showed us a brief overview of the features on the Timefactor. Here, he plays us some of the patches built into the Timefactor to showcase different delay types before moving into some of the more advanced things it can do -- like sync up with an Eventide Modfactor for one button patch switching on two pedals.

ALAN CHAPUT: Each of these factory presets has a built-in expression pedal assignment so you don’t have to program it. What I did there was I just plugged in an expression pedal and that’s what happened.

Pretty wild.

This is an example of just the modulation from Timefactor without any delays.

So you can use this stompbox for just chorus sounds, which is really cool. It’s a nice feature.

This has two delays a different speeds to give you a sort of a galloping effect that’s been made famous by a certain guitar player that you might recognize...,

...a galloping effect which used to take two delay pedals that I can do with one. Let’s check out preset two-one. It’s a vintage delay sound.

Vintage deay has some darker filters which you dial in an older digital delay sound, which is pretty cool. Let’s check out a tape echo sound.

That’s a slap echo delay time, but what happens when you turn the delay knob while you’re playing is you get realtime feedback just like a real tape echo.

Because Timefactor has MIDI ports on the side, you can connect any two Eventide stompboxes together. Right now I have a Modfactor and a Timefactor here and watch what happens. You change a sound on one and it’ll change the sound on the other which is great because you can sync them up, you press one button and your entire sound changes with whatever you want as your combination sound of the two pedals, and you can also do this with any foot controller. So, you connect the USB port to your computer, go to our web site Eventide.com, and you’d be able to download software upgrades. While you’re there, check out our forum where you can tell us what you’re looking for as far as features in these stompboxes, and that will help us improve these products and make theme even cooler.
