Fargen Retro Classic 60s British Clone -- The Amp That Allows You To Party Like Its 1969
Fargen Amplification in Sacramento has released the Fargen Retro Classic 60s British Clone. And no, this has nothing to do with Dolly the Sheep.
Ben Fargen has been planning to offer a line of 60s Marshall clones and just finally found the time to bring you these amps. Now you can sound like Bad Company or perhaps Led Zeppelin.
Now you can find the sound you want without dropping the cash on a modified vintage amp that costs more than your car or a mass-produced reissue that sounds as much like the old school amps as a 70s eight-track player.
There are both 25 and 50 watt versions of the Fargen “Retro Classic.” The amps are hand wired to the original specs and layout of a classic 60s Marshall plexi amp.
Fargen says he has altered some of the components and voltages to maximize tone and sustain. He has worked on the old amps for over a decade so he knows what goes where and what should go where.
Over the years Fargen has seen many "non schematic" based changes and "happy accidents" that surfaced from the Marshall factory. These "mistakes" sometimes result in remarkable amps. Some of the factory amps had a magic tone based on these anomalies. Fargen has made these accidental killer tones part of the package. He notes that most of the prime vintage Marshall units are owned by famous rock stars. Fargen says that their new amps have rolled the best he has seen in these amps into both the lead and bass model of the Plexi.
