Fender '59 Bassman Reissue LTD: Bassist Plays Guitar Through A Real Guitarist's Bass Amp
December 01, 2009
The confusingly-named Fender Bassman has long been a favorite of guitarists seeking an amp that's loud, clean, and full-bodied. Does the latest incarnation -- the Fender '59 Bassman Reissue LTD -- keep the tone-torch lit for Fender's happy accident? You'll just have to watch this video walkthru and find out.
Owen takes a close look at and listen to this amp's unique quasi-dual channel arrangement, one that inspired a certain Marshall chap to build a particular amplifier for one Townshend fellow.

I'd love to see and hear a bass with this amp, after all...
oh god I can't believe that
oh god I can't believe that you give such great gear to such a bad player. this is totally ridiculous, mr. owen o'malley should take some guitar lessions.
AND, why bother to make a review of an bassman without even go ONCE to a nice little tubey overdirve?
damn that o'malley drives me furious, he can't even talk fluently.
Did you even listen through to the end?
He pushes it with a humbucker-equipped Les Paul, cowardly dolt.
awful demo
Please, at least tune your guitar when doing a demo.
Do I like This video
I love Fender amps, and I love that they are not all alike.I wish I could own many of them.

i also have been a Fender Defender, i remember the first bassman i think i heard in a small Starflyer 59 show in Philly, once they began playing i noticed a diving board appear out of nowhere and i got on and jumped into the deep [:

Children, Children! It was an amp test, not a concert. The only thing I wasn't clear on Owen, was when you plugged in the LP, what volume was the amp at? Also, at what volume was your guitar set? I have 3 of the Fender Hot Rod series amps(which are the grandchildren of this amp); the 15 watt Blues Jr, the 15 watt Pro Jr, and the 40 watt Hot Rod Deluxe. They of course also make the 60 watt Hot Rod Deville in both a 4x10, and a 2x12, but so far the Deluxe has been plenty loud enough for me, although I am going to get the add-on speaker cab to go with it. But my favorite actually is the Pro Jr, what a sublime and sweet little 15 for practice, studio, or even miked for small venues. Need reverb? Step up to his bigger brother, the Blues Jr. And for the young guitar players that said they'd like to own many amps, you can, buy used. I have payed half price or less of a new amp for every one I own, mostly from Craigs list.
hi
Wish i could afford one of them.
