Blues phenom Jonny Lang is not a kid anymore, but his music sounds just as fresh, forceful, and immediate as ever on his recent live release Jonny Lang Live At The Ryman. Tracked at the historic Ryman Auditorium (former and, due to the recent flooding in Nashville, current temporary home of the Grand Ole Opry), the album captures Lang and his band channeling the blues and soul gods in a town that, as Lang says, just really loves music.
We spoke with Lang about the experience of recording his first live album, and about the two guitars locked in a n epic battle for his riffing attention. A longtime player of Fender Custom Shop Telecaster Thinline guitars, his fancy has recently been struck by a Gibson Historic 1959 Les Paul. Oh the intrigue!
