Flux Elixir: Peak Multichannel Limiter Plugin Released

November 30, 2011
Flux released Elixir, a peak multichannel limiter effect plugin.

Say hello to Flux Elixir, a true peak multichannel limiter effect plugin which, according to the manufacturer, is a novel kind of program limiter carefully designed to accomplish a pure and natural sounding result without changing the nature of the audio material and its timbre. As Flux notes, Elixir presents effectively reduced, conventional limiting “pumping” effects even during heavy processing.

Targeted toward professionals in the broadcast, post-production, and mastering industry, Elixir provides real True Peak output level in accordance with the ITU-R.BS 1770 and EBU R128 norms. For surround / multichannel operation, Elixir provides up to eight channels of simultaneous processing. Sound good? Check out the Elixir specs below.

Flux Elixir features at a glance:

  • ITU-R.BS 1770 and EBU R128 compliant
  • Up to 8 channels Input / Output
  • 64-Bit internal floating point processing
  • Sampling rates up to 384 kHz DXD (Pyramix DSP based)
  • Sampling rates up to 384 kHz for Native (AU / RTAS / VST)

To use Elixir, just set the input level, adjust the Threshold according to the amount of limiting desired, and then enable Make Up for gain compensation and loudness addition. For more delicate processing tasks such as mastering, Elixir presents a new concept called Stages, which provides the option to set the algorithm to perform the limiting processing in multi-stages, in order to achieve even more precise and natural sounding results.

In addition to Stages, Elixir presents the option to run the algorithm in a higher resolution mode with even more detail put into the processing; however, this option comes at the cost of additional CPU-consumption.

Elixir for Windows and Mac (VST / AU / RTAS) is now available for the introductory price of 99 EUR (approximately $133) instead of the regular price of 149 EUR (approximately $200). Compatibility with Avid's AAX format is expected to be announced during the first quarter of 2012.
