At MusikMesse, Focusrite announced its digital take on the ISA One mic preamp / DI. The new Focusrite ISA One Digital ($799.99 MSRP) comes standard with analog-to-digital conversion and lets you can transform any audio interface with a digital input into a professional DAW front end, according to Focusrite.

Previously an optional extra for the analog-only ISA One unit, the ADC board provides AES / EBU, S/PDIF, and SMUX-compliant ADAT outputs for the unit, with the preamp and DI signals streamed separately over the two channels of the digital connection. With A / D conversion, jitter-elimination technology, and a 118 dB dynamic range, this direct digital link bypasses the analog circuitry and converters in your existing audio interface, and in turn provides a high-end signal path directly into any music-recording software.

The ISA One Digital mic pre features the company's transformer-based circuitry, along with the preamp's switchable impedance with an ISA 110 setting; a dedicated insert point that adds further processing into the signal chain; a headphone output with a stereo cue mix input; and comprehensive metering for accurate visual feedback.
